Installation problems on a virtual server

Hi, I have followed the instructions but when I got to the part that I’m suppose to run the software it doesn’t work.

I downloaded the software to my desktop, unzipped and uploaded it to the root folder on my server which is known as httpdocs.

I then made my database and then renamed the wp-config-sample file and also edited the appropriate details (I believe). When I then went to wp-password. I’m guessing its one of these three: DB_HOST, admin/install.php on my server it wasn’t showing me anything. I then rechecked the wp-config.php and didn’t see anything that I messed up.

I renamed the username, and DB_CHARSET, or DB_COLLATE. The only problem is I’m not sure how I can tell if I need to change one of these variables :(.

I have do everything manually on my server so I’m not sure where to exactly start, support for my hosting is not very reliable either :-(.
