• Followed the 5 minute installation instructions. Created MySQL database and username. Install went fine. After running the PHP install script I get what you see here –

    http://www.cookingwithfood.com/

Same error on every PHP page.

    PHP version 5.1.4
    MySQL version 5.0.21-standard

I got that error message once, and I believe that it was because my computer or text editor had munched the line endings or something. And so what I did was re uploaded all the files with a different ftp client from a different computer and it worked (originally I was using cyberduck on a mac and then I used transmit).

Check your .htaccess file. Make sure it is chmod 666 or 644.

Also, make sure it is 100% blank! It might break again if you try and update Permalink Structure. Check around # BEGIN WordPress . Needs a blank line after and before it. Some times the lines get put on the same line which causes http 500.
