  • First question, is did you unzip the file before you uploaded it?

Second question: what directory did you place the theme file in?

The correct way to manually install a theme is to first extract the files into a folder, so that you’re not uploading a zipped file. then, when you upload the folder with your theme’s files inside, you need to upload them to /wp-content/themes

for example, my full path for my theme is:
    /blog/wp-content/themes/glimpse

glimpse is the name of my theme.

I hope this answers your question. 😀

    Hi,

I downloaded the theme from here http://www.paddsolutions.com/wpmag/carbonified/
,once I had the folder on my desktop I then zipped it, then uploaded it to wordpress.

I’m not sure of the directory that I placed it in.

How can I uninstall the current theme ?

    Thanks.

I’m not an expert, by any means… as a matter of fact, I only know enough about wordpress to get me in trouble… but if I were you, I would go into your wordpress admin, then click on “appearance”, then themes. from there, assuming that you did not delete the default “twentyten” theme, I would activate that one, and then delete the theme you downloaded.

Maybe then, download a different theme and try installing it in the correct path, and see if it works.

I wish I could help more. If you don’t get anywhere by doing that, if you want, I can look at it for you. You can email me the ftp info and the link to the theme you want to install @ [email protected]. I’ll try and set it up for you. 😀
