Installing ninja firewall without outbound connection

    For security reasons our servers have httpd_can_network_connect –> off which means we cannot install the plugin successfully.

    Our IT department have asked if there is an ‘out of band’ mechanism to update and check rules?

    It is not possible, I’m afraid. During the installation, the rules are downloaded over HTTPS and digitally signed otherwise the firewall reject them for security reasons. It will also adjust them to match your blog and server configuration. You would need to at least allow it once to connect during the installation process.

    Ahh, yes that would make sense. Thank you though, I’ll pass the info along to the server team.
