Installing sitekit
-
Hi there, I am trying to install site-kit on our blog and I can’t seem to finish the install. When I go through the sign in with google process I am an authorized owner of our site and I’ve double-checked that the URL is the same as on sitekit.withgoogle.com (www.redfin.com/blog) & our WordPress general settings (https://www.redfin.com/blog). So when I click sign in and allow site kit the permissions it kicks me back to the sign in with google page on my WordPress site.
I’m running the latest version of WordPress and sitekit, so I’m kinda at a loss on why it’s not working. Any insight?

@fremdawg Sorry to hear you are encountering issues during setup. There could be a number of reasons why setup is failing. In order to troubleshooting can you follow the setup steps below if not already attempted?
– Reset the plugin (Site Kit > Settings > Admin Settings > Reset Site Kit)
– Temporarily deactivate any caching, optimisation or security suite plugins
– Setup Site Kit again using a browser incognito windowIf the above fails can you share your Site Health information? We can then see if there is anything we can identify which may be impacting setup. In addition please inform me if you have any firewall or software application setup at hosting level, such as any web application firewall or security suite.
Sure, here is our site health information below. I inquired with our host and they said they do have a firewall in place, I don’t know if that is the source of the issue or not. We haven’t run into problems with other plugins.
WP-Engine is asking for an IP address or user agent so they can check to see if their firewall is getting in the way.

@fremdawg Thanks for the update. Are you in a position to attempt setup with some of your plugins temporary deactivated? While I am not familiar with all the plugins you can check with the below deactivated:
– Google Apps Login Premium
– Google Optimize Addon
– Multiple RolesIf you have any other WordPress sites on the same host you can also check Site Kit setup with any of those sites to confirm it’s not a hosting environment issue?
Just those 3 could be the problem?
The weird thing is the URL for sitekit after I try signing in is “https://www.redfin.com/blog/wp-admin/admin.php?notification=authentication_success&page=googlesitekit-splash”. WHich implies it was successful, but something else happened.

@fremdawg I’m not certain what the problem could be, it may require some more troubleshooting. I will install some of the same extensions you have and try to recreate the same issue from my side.
@fremdawg I am unable to replicate the same issue from my side with the following plugins activated:
– Google Apps Login
– Multiple RoleI noticed the Google Optimize Addon is a Monster Insights add on. With the Google Apps Login plugin I only tested with the standard version, not the premium.
If you want to check with WP Engine the user agent is set to
Site Kit by Google/1.0. If you have ModSecurity enabled also it may be impacting setup. Do you have any other sites hosted with the WP Engine you can check with?So with the new update (1.2) I was able to progress one step further. It’s authenticated, but when I go to my dashboard I get the following error “Cannot read property ‘call’ of undefined in Unknown in Suspense in t in t”.
I’ve already uninstalled/reinstalled site kit and I’m getting the same error. Any ideas?
@fremdawg Can you attempt setup using a browser incognito window or clear your cache before checking again?
Just tried in incognito and I’m back to the original problem where the URL says authentication_success but the page still shows the sign in with Google.
@fremdawg Thanks for the perseverance. Do you have any other WordPress sites hosted on the same server you can check setup with? It would be interesting to see if the same issue arises on another site using the same hosting environment.
@fremdawg I’m following up on your support topic to see how things are. I’ve attempted setting up the plugin at WP Engine without issue. I’m not sure if there were particular security measures in place for your site that could be affecting, but were you able to test with another website to confirm?
@fremdawg As we didn’t receive a response I will mark this as resolved. Feel free to open a new support topic if you continue to encounter issues.
