Installing WordPress to an existing website

    I had the website for my company transferred from Homestead to HostGator. This should all be finalized, however my website is pretty lackluster and through research I have found that WordPress is what I am looking for to bring my website to life. My question is whether I can go ahead and install WordPress onto my existing website without breaking it, or is there a way to start from scratch while keeping the same domain?
