dorks?for multiple blogs, use whatever works for you. I used b2 and b3.
Forget the “multiple blogs”… Make this one to work first 🙂
(anyway multiple means multiple install!)
Did your try with just localhost? What kind of admin interface is provided by your host?
Sorry about the delayed reply…
I changed the wp-config.php file – by adding the database name, password etc then uploaded it. It all looks OK (no missing quotatio marks etc….but when I go to install I get a 404. Now I can see the config file there.
Any ideas?

You get a 404 but you can see a file ?
If you can see the actual file words then it was uploaded wrongly.
Delete it
Upload it as an ASCII file.
I’ll give it a go = thanks
Ok tried that. Still get a 404.
What I meant that was if I go to http://www.myurl/directory/wp-admin.css from a browser I can see it. If I put in http://www.myurl/directory/wp-admin/install.php I get the 404.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks for the help 😉

In your ftp the file really is there ?
Is there any sort of redirection going on ?
In your example above, it should be:
http://www.myurl/directory/wp-admin/wp-admin.css
http://www.myurl/directory/wp-admin/install.php
Now I’m confused.
I can see the wp-admin.css file from ftp and can see the content from a browser via
http://www.myurl/directory/wp-admin.css
(it starts off:
* html #poststuff {
height: 100%; /* kill peekaboo bug in IE */
}
a {
border-bottom: 1px solid #69c;
color: #00019b;
text-decoration: none;
I get a 404 with the http://www.myurl/directory/wp-admin/wp-admin.css
you suggested above and the /install.php
aaargh.
Your files seem to have unzipped / uploaded incorrectly.
When you unzip, you should have 4 folders and several files all inside one folder called ‘wordpress’
If this is not the case, unzip again but make sure that the unzipping program keeps the folders intact.
As for uploading, if your ‘directory’ was called ‘blog’ then everything inside the ‘wordpress’ folder should be uploaded straight ino ‘blog’ without changing anything.
I see = I definitely didn’t get the 4 folders when I unzipped. I’ll give it another go.
Thanks for the tip.

You beauty -it is sorted.
I can’t believe that the way it unzipped was the problem all along.
THANK YOU for your advice.

Maybe this has been my problem…
on my desktop, the wp-config file is 4k but after i upload it, it’s only 0k, i’ve contacted my webhost but are there any thoughts? I’ve tried and retried, and this seems to be the main problem…
