• I followed all the instructions to create the database & edit and rename wp-config.php. I’ve uploaded all the files via Dreamweaver MX and everything seems correct. However, when I finally go to /blog/wp-admin/install.php, nothing happens. The page loads blank. What am I doing wrong?!?!

were you having the exact same problem as the op?

yup, only difference is I used fireFTP to upload.

I downloaded the latest version of wordpress, followed the instructions, edited the wp-config file after creating a new database and when arriving at the step when opening the install.php page and doing so… blank page… no response what so ever!

    delete the php.ini file
    follow whooami’s advice above

I’ve created and uploaded the .htaccess file with the “php_value memory_limit 32M” listed in the file.

I’ve also created and uploaded the php.ini file with “memory_limit = 32M” listed in it.

I’ve tried /blog/wp-admin/install.php without both files in the root, with only .htaccess in the root, with only php.ini in the root, and with both in the root and every time I get a white page.

I’ve also contacted my server to increase PHP memory to 32M, but I’m waiting to hear back from them. Any suggestions while I wait?

    see whooami’s answer above

The only “answer” I see is that of

white pages, otherwise described around here as blank pages, are indicative of fatal PHP errors. what do the server’s error logs say?

I can’t find any server logs to tell you what they say…

I see a lot of suggestions above, but neither of them seems to give the sollution. I have a clean WordPress installation (no extra plugins, default theme) and everything goes wel until the moment I want to login for the first time. In Safari (mac) I get this message:

    Safari can’t open the page.
Safari can’t open the page “http://harmonieoefening.nl/wordpress/wp-login.php” because the server unexpectedly dropped the connection, which sometimes occurs when the server is busy. You might be able to open the page later.

In other browsers the page is blank. My host says WordPress 2.7 should work but it doesn’t. Is it possible that the problem lies in WordPress 2.7 itself?

you’d think so, with this many people having the exact same problem, and absolutely nobody being able to provide a solution for it…

Is there already a sollution for the problem described above?

Nope! Nothing! WordPress has become useless for me!

has anyone looked in their php error logs?
    this is a php problem
    maybe time to contact host?

    http://www.hacktrix.com/fixing-the-blank-page-problem-after-wordpress-27-upgrade

I already contacted my host. There they are saying WordPress should just work fine.

I had a clean WordPress 2.7 installation. But unfortunately it doesn’t work for me.

The link you give is therefor no sollution, cause I’m not upgrading. The strange thing is that beta releases of WordPress 2.7 did work, although WordPress was very slow at the time and after a while stoped working.

I am having a similar problem. My blog, http://www.winglike.com was updated to 2.7 yesterday. I was successful and I posted an entry.

Today, I went to a friend’s place and they mentioned they saw my entry. (I assume earlier today) However, tonight when I got home my blog didn’t have that entry. When I went to the admin dashboard there was the message “WordPress 2.7 is available! Please update now.”

I all ready updated to 2.7 SUCCESSFULLY (supposedly) and used it to post a new entry. Now my blog has reverted and that post is gone.

Since then, I deleted my files again, and uploaded 2.7 (twice – the second time around I redownloaded the zip file) to no avail. What is going on?!

    @umi
If I where you I should have a quick at your blog. Cause your blog is ready to be installed. And I can do it if want to, even though it’s not my blog…
