I installed according to instructions both from the web and the book. My database info is correct and the modifications to the config file check out. When I try to run the Install.php file it yields a blank screen with the -1 in the upper left hand corner. I reinstalled the install.php file just to be sure. I’m out of ideas. Thanks

  • Good Day – I have a similar issue. I am new to wordpress – I installed according to the 5 Minute install instructions, and when I ran the install.php I got a blank screen – no “-1” in the corner however. Nothing happens to the database. Any help I can get would be appreciated. I am really excited about getting started with WordPress. Thanks

    Hey CharlieTango,

I didn’t get any feedback from this post but finally tried three things. First, I decided my understanding of the hosts Root directory was wrong so I moved all the wordpress stuff to the domain named file. Second, I reinstalled the software because of the 2.1.1 update. And finally, I removed the index.html and other html files so pulling up the site went right to the blog and not to the under construction page. Not sure which was the magic bullet but now I’m up and running. My five minute install took five days but what the heck. Good luck!

    Thanks Neocon,
I’ll have a look and see if this helps. Thanks much for getting back to me.
