Instant wordpress backups

I have just installed instant wordpress so I can test a few ideas for our blog.

I’m having a few problems with it since I don’t want to start fresh but have a backup of our site that I want to copy over. I’ve tried copying everything over but this didn’t work, UI think my wp-config.php is pointing to the wrong location so I edited and put the local host detail in there for the sql files but still couldn’t get in.

I’ve also just only copied the content folder and loose files but left wp-admin and wp-includes as the one supplied with instant WP, this also didn’t work.

I’m sure I’m missing something simple!
