• I want to integrate the polylang plugin with my themefolder and use it from there. Here are my questions:
1.: Do I upload the zipcontents from the download or do I only need a part?
2.: What do I add to my functions.php file to make this happen? If you use a referance, please also add an example(I sometimes struggle with abbrivations and referances).
3.: My themename differs from my folder name, which name is used in the functions.php?
4.: I am using advanced custom fields. How am I gonna make this work?
5.: Does this plugin have an official website and a proper and complete FAQ, so even impatient and average joe like me can figure out how this stuff works? Right now it feels like rocket science. Out of the last 30 searches I did, using google, only 2 returned a remote referance to this issue. I conclude that your SEO sucks. Even stackoverflow is a ghosttown I regards to this plugin.

Sorry if it sounds like a rant, but I would really like to implement it in my theme and I’d like a clear and direct answer. Explain like I’m a 6 year old if you need to.

    Hi!

Basically it’s generally not possible to integrate a plugin into a theme. Indeed WordPress plugins and themes work differently and plugins are loaded much *before* the theme.

Well that was a short and abrupt ending to my hopes and dreams. Any chance we can ever see this happen in the future? It would save me some update troubles with my clients.

I am not part of the WordPress core team. But I guess that it would be extremely difficult to change WordPress (and break a lot of things…) to allow it to load a theme before the plugins.

I always thought it would be possible to add plugins to themes natively by adding stuff to the functions.php. I don’t know. I haven’t been developing for that long.
