In all the post pages the GA scripts are not firing properly. You can verify this with the Google Tag Assistant chrome plugin.

This appears to be because the Complianz plugin is not putting the GA code inside the header.

I would like to insert the GA code myself, is there a way to ensure it is removed from Complianz to avoid double tracking?

Alternately, is there a way to get the GA code to be inserted in the header using the Complianz plugin?

Can you please help me with this, I’ve lost all tracking on my site.

I have added the GA script into the head to confirm that tracking happens successfully.
Perhaps an alternate script has been introduced by Google Analytics for site tracking.

gtag.js seems to be the new js.
    analytics.js might have been depricated.

Just additional information to help with the issue.

    Hi @baryflawless,

If I have a look on:

    https://www.thisisbarry.com/film/us-movie-explained-2019-film-us-explained/

I can see a console error for Siteground optimizer,

the error is not on https://www.thisisbarry.com, where I can find the banner as well.

I do however get a pageview request for the Complianz integration, only on https://www.thisisbarry.com I have a double pageview request. There might be an issue with the GTAG on some pages, can you remove the gtag.js and let me know – maybe deactivate siteground optimizer as well to debug the issue.

    As for gtag.js;

gtag.js is a broader javascript API for Google services, whereby analytics.js is just to share statistics via their server. The latter therefore is more controllable on a data-sharing level, privacy-wise.

    regards Aert

    Thanks for the detailed response.

I rolled back my changes to the <head>, and guess what? Everything went back to working. I wonder if it was some sort of down time Google Analytics had with their analytics.js related APIs.

Thanks a bunch, if anything in the future I’ll reach out.

    Keep up the great work.
