Integrating a PlugIn into a Theme… possible?

    Hey Gang,
    I’m developing a theme for a client that will be using the MU version of WP on their corporate server as a way for it’s associates to write about their experiences etc. I’m trying to make the theme as comprehensive as possible with as few plug-in’s as possible.

    Is it possible to integrate a plug-in into a theme so it is automatically active and doesn’t have to be enabled and configured by each user (I’m trying to take the idiot factor out of the admin, so the settings aren’t available to change by the individual associates).

    If this is possible, can anyone point me to a resource on the subject? I’ve spent 2 hours searching before posting here with no real luck.

    Adding the “plugin” in the theme’s functions.php file would be the route to go if you’re going to use one theme for the whole WPMU install.

    If not, then create a plugin and upload to mu-plugins folder where
    a) it would be activated sitewide according to your specifications in whatever theme used in each subblog of the installation and
    b) where the client cannot “touch” it (unless they have FTP access)
