Integrating wordpress into static site

hi all,

I am building a site over at http://www.thefirstfloor.co.nz. its a portfolio site for me and a friend of mine. I thought I would have a go at building it myself, using wordpress as a CMS. But I have got a bit stuck.

basically the site pulls all posts in the category “work” and puts them on the home page, and all posts in the category “blog” and puts them on the blog page.

It’s all going great so far- the blog page is working perfectly as I want it, but the work page is slightly more difficult.

I want it to be a page of images: so for example, clicking on the grey image (pretend it is a project) at thefirstfloor links to a page which has more views of the project, as well as a caption- much like this website http://www.leifpodhajsky.com/

Have I explained this well enough?? Sorry, I am quite new to wordpress…
