intermittent thumbnails

Testing this plug-in on my site and its only working intermittently.
It will make and place fancy thumbnails on first upload of file but after that it won’t re-use the file or re-upload the same file and place a thumbnail again?The document descriptions are showing up even though they are de-selected in the dash
And is there a way to change the items per “document-icon-wrapper” from 4 to 3?

Addressing your last question first, configuring the number of columns is not currently possible. It is on our TODO list though.
For your first question, I’m not sure what you mean… Can you show me an example of the behavior you are describing?
Can you please go to to
Dashboard -> Settings -> Document Gallery -> Advancedand paste the entire contents of the the big text box at the bottom of that page? Also, can you please paste the shortcode (ie:[dg ...]) that you are currently using?-Dan

By default Document Gallery displays files attached to the post where it’s stated. To grasp the concept please have a quick peek at the part of Dan’s video presented on the Description page. So, there is no need for manual pasting links of desired files; use just [dg] for displaying post attachments.
If You’ll face necessity to unattach and reattach any file please have a look here.Also You can use shortcode with the option [dg localpost=false] to display all the attachments through Your WordPress instance in the gallery.
As well You can specify IDs of needed attachments to be displayed [dg ids=10,2,4,42] (mentioned IDs only as an example, You have to determine Yours). To define IDs of desired attachments, please go to Your media library in the dashboard, hover mouse over the thumbnail image on the left or any link related to the attachment, look down, in the very bottom edge of your browser window You’ll see targeting URL. It will look either …/wp-admin/post.php?post=XXX&action=edit or …/?attachment_id=XXX, where XXX is desired numerical ID value.

Hi thanks for your response.I see that you notice the links inserted after the short code[dg].
I did not put those in.I put in [dg] and added media to the post and that was the output.Hence my confusion.
I’m also only getting thumbnail inserted if I upload new media each time.

It sounds like you are clicking “Insert into page.” This is not necessary and will have no effect on how Document Gallery behaves. You can safely remove everything after the [dg] that you did not intend to include and everything should work properly.
