Internal 500 Error

    Hey, I just updated the WordPress Themes. Got an internal error 500, renamed the theme folder and it went away. I’m assuming the theme is corrupted, how do I fix this?

    Ok, so no matter what happens when I try to use an evolve theme, it doesn’t work. if i use another theme, it works.

    I also renamed the folder to Evolve2, and tried to redownload and activate it and the error happened again.

    @moudzy possible you enable wp debug to see the actual error?

    edit: also just downgraded wordpress to 4.8 to see if that would fix it

    please check error logs for any error..u get the error in the admin area as well?

    just got the error

    yep get the error everywhere, till i change the theme

    edit: theme must be changed manually via server

    hm, how do you install the theme? download and install through wp admin or FTP or? what PHP version do your website use?

    PHP Version 5.6.37

    To install a theme, I do the following:

    – Access Server
    – Rename themes folder to themes2
    – Recreate the themes folder
    – Enter wordpress as I can now log in
    – Download a new theme

    From here:
    If i try to downlaod the theme via wordpress I come to this error.
    If i try to move a fresh download of evolve into the themes folder I come to this error.

    edit: if it helps, I haven’t updated this theme in nearly a year until today. perhaps an older version will work? I’ve downgraded my wordpress to 4.8

    hm, this seems can be two issues: corrupted customizer.php file or php version. I would try to upgrade PHP version to higher one. Do you have chance test it on other server? localhost?

    ok so at this stage, wordpress is updated. evolve is working on a new plane site, i’ve transitioned this over to the old url of my site. Now at this Stage I have a vanilla theme, how do I merge my old theme with this?

    You can use for example WinMerge or Meld to check your changes to the theme.

    I shouldn’t have updated the theme. THis was my mistake, I’ve got to py $100 to hve it restored now. >_<
