I have loaded dozens of themes that seem to work in firefox. but none will work with Internet explorer. any help?

What do you mean by “not working”?
The theme doesn’t show up at all, or it looks different than it does in FF?

The sidebars don’t show up. it seems my posts are fine,

Start by VALIDATING your site. Nothing can be accomplished until that issue is out of the way.
