• Hi. My website looks great on Firefox and Chrome. However, readers are telling me that on Internet Explorer it looks awful. I checked it out via Microsoft Edge and they are right! The header, sidebars, etc. are fine but on the homepage the content in the middle is all messed up. Either there is nothing – it is blank – or a lot of blank white page between the various posts. I don’t understand how this could be… Please help! Thanks. Roger.

Hi, thanks for reporting this problem.
However, I can’t reproduce it on my end.
I tried both IE and IE edge, and the home page looked fine.
Which version of IE are you using ?
Can you make sure you clear the browser cache ?

Thanks Nicolas. I use Microsoft Edge 44.17763.1.0. I don’t use it much, I admit. I went to the settings and cleared the browsing history, cookies and saved website data and cached data and files. And it said “All cleared!” or something like that. I then closed the browser and turned off the computer. And when I turned it back on and came back to Microsoft Edge, the home page still looked bad: either all white or some white and some of the featured images and some of the texts. Weird, to say the least. I would definitely appreciate any other suggestions! Roger.

    Hello,

+1 for @rcouvrette: I detected the same issue in a clean installation of WordPress, which I’ve setup for testing purpose after I encountered the issue in an existing website.

In the clean testinstallation of WordPress I just activated the hueman Theme and deactivated all plugins. Then I added some posts and opened a site of the blog in Edge browser, which contains an overview of blog posts.

I also deleted all the chaches in Edge.

Any ideas what could be causing such a behaviour? Lazy loading?

    Version of Microsoft Edge: 44.17736.1.0
    Version of Microsoft EdgeHTML: 18.17736
You can also take a look at https://syni.binder.onl/wordpress where I am hosting the clean testinstallation of WordPress.

Thanks in advance for any inputs!

    Regards,
    Milan

The homepage of my website still looks awful on Microsoft Edge. Input would indeed be nice. Thanks, Roger.

    Hi,

I saw, that you (Roger) are using the same version of Edge like I am using, and I assumed, that Nicolas maybe used another version (@Nicolas: Are you able to confirm this?) … so I thought it could be an error within this version of Edge.

So I tested my site in the previous version of Edge and was surprised about no issues there.

So I assume it’s a problem of Microsofts Edge browser and not of the hueman WordPress theme.

Did one of you already raised a ticket at Microsoft Edge support where I can join?
If not I will raise one and provide you the link then πŸ˜‰

Great stuff, Milan: thanks for exploring the problem and finding that difference with the versions of Edge.

I did not contact Microsoft Edge but please do and provide me with that link.

    Thanks!
    Roger.

    Hi Roger,

Microsoft marked the issue with “understood” in the Feedback-Hub long ago. Today I updated to Win10 1903 and in new Edge version delivered with 1903 which is here “Edge 44.18362.1.0” the issue is resolved for me. Hope it is resolved for you as well?

    Hi Milan,

My Microsoft Edge is still bad but it’s still Edge 44.17763.1.0. I can’t find which version of Windows I have though. Does Windows not update by itself? Wouldn’t Edge then follow suit and also update? If I have to update one or both, could you kindly tell me how? I guess I ain’t a tech savvy, eh?

    Thanks Milan,
    Roger.

Until now, windows10 does update itself automatically. But shortly before 1903 version, they delivered an small update which changes the update policy a bit. Normal updates will install automatically like before, but the 2 big version updates (1703, 1709, 1803, 1809, 1903, …) wait for confirmation of the user to install.

This means, press windows key and search for “Updates”. Open Windows Update. Press search for updates. If already available for your system, you can start the download and

The Update to 1903 version will also update Edge-Browser.

Alright! I checked for possible updates a number of times and yesterday the option of updating to 1903 was there. So I updated. And voila, now in Edge my website – https://aaagnostica.org – looks beautiful!
    Finally.
Thanks so much for your help Milan!
