Invalid Request on Prevent PHP Execution

    Hi,

    I am getting the error message “Invalid Request” when I add the .htaccess code to my /wp-content directory and run “Re-Check Status” for the Prevent PHP Execution security recommendation.

    I read another thread where it says Cloudflare could be blocking the re-check but I do not have Cloudflare on my server. There is also another site on the same server where everything ran successfully, though.

    There is also something strange that is happening; The Prevent Information Disclosure security recommendation is reappearing after the “Invalid Request” error, even though it run successfully and was cleared previously.

    Please advise,

    Hi @barnettmsiska

    Sorry to hear you are having this issue.

    Could you please do the following test?

    – Click on right button of mouse
    – Click on inspect
    – Switch to Network tab
    – clear it
    – Try to re-check again
    – Check the admin ajax and click on preview

    Does it return 200 status or any different status?

    I am getting a 200 status in the network tab and the response is as below;

    {“success”:false,”data”:{“message”:”Invalid request”}}

    Hello @barnettmsiska !

    Thank you for running the additional checks. From what it seems, it may be some security feature that’s being triggered and may be blocking the checks (not the response itself though).

    Can you contact your hosting provider and ask them to investigate and unblock this for you if they find anything of this kind interfering?

    Contacting hosting support may also be a good idea in case the hosting uses a hybrid Apache + nginx setup as the code even if it’s added correctly to Apache may still not go through nginx correctly.
