Can you check if you encounter the same issue when embedding on a non-HTTPS page on the site?
Same issue with the non-ssl page.

I have not located the issue, but my best guess is that another plugin has some jQuery loading on the page which is calling the preventDefault method and inadvertently targeting these links.
Disable all plugins and check that the invite links work. You can find the conflicting plugin by turning them on one by one until you find that the links stop working.
If you are able to narrow down which plugin (or the theme) is causing this conflict, I can try to isolate the conflicting code and see if there is any fix I can make on my end.
