    Hi there,

First of all a disclaimer: our orders are generated through a separate plugin (EffectConnect), that creates orders that come from a large Dutch marketplace. I noticed that Invoices are not automatically created on order creation. I did however, check another webshop that creates orders the regular way, and didn’t see any auto-generated invoices there either.

To be clear, I want to automatically generate the PDF invoice for each order that is created, so that it is sent with each order confirmation e-mail. I went through all the settings, but can’t find a toggle that does this anywhere. How do I do this?

You can select to attach the invoices to the email notification associated with the confirmation email under PDF Invoices > Documents > Invoices > Attach to

Alternatively, with the Professional extension, you have the option to auto create PDFs based on order status. If you’d like find our more you can email us at [email protected]. We’re not allowed to discuss paid plugins on this forum.

“You can select to attach the invoices to the email notification associated with the confirmation email under PDF Invoices > Documents > Invoices > Attach to”

This only applies when the invoice is generated by hand first? So if you didn’t generate the PDF, the e-mail will be sent without it, otherwise it will be attached?

So am I correct if I say there is no auto-generation of the invoice in the free version?

    Hey @majorlabel,

No, that is not quite correct. 🙂

In the free version, if you want your PDFs to be automatically generated, you need to select which WooCommerce email you want to attach them to. The PDF will be generated when the email is triggered & this PDF will be attached to the email.

WooCommerce > PDF Invoices > Documents > Invoice > Attach to:

A screenshot that display the Attach to setting. It has the Completed order marked

Ah, great thanks. I think the problem is the way our orders are created. The e-mail is never triggered, so the PDF never created. If I create an order the regular way, all is fine.

    @majorlabel,

    – How do you create orders the non-regular way? Are you using a plugin?
    – Do you know if your non-regular way of creating orders triggers a change in status?

Yes, there is a plugin that creates the orders. We connect our webshop to a large marketplace in the Netherlands, and the plugin creates orders in Woocommerce when orders are placed in the marketplace. I’ve already notified the plugin creators that their plugin should respect the regular Woocommerce API. It is a paid plugin so I believe I am entitled to ask something like that. I believe they do update the status from ‘awaiting payment’ to ‘processing’, but that seems to be done in a way that does not trigger the e-mails.

but that seems to be done in a way that does not trigger the e-mails.

This could be issue. The status is updated but the emails aren’t fired. You could check if there is a setting that allows the plugin to auto send notification emails when a certain status is reach or upon order creation completion. You can also ask the developers about this should there not be an option to do so.

It’s fixed. Turns out the order-creating-plugin had a checkbox that allowed to switch the e-mails on or off.
