Invoice Numbering

    Hello everyone!

    All invoice generator plugins can automatically create sequential invoice numbering, the problem comes when I make test orders, they (of course) get the following sequential number and therefore real orders get ‘non-sequential’.

    For government matters, all invoices reported to the government needs to be sequential.

    Is there any invoice plugin or any other workaround that can deal with this? I haven’t been able to find the solution yet…

    (On another hand, also for government requirements, I need the tax clases to be splitted on the invoice. Within an order, which contains products with different tax clases, each tax class amount must be separated).

    By default, WooCommerce assigns the WordPress post id as the order number.. As that value is always guaranteed to be unique.

    If you would like all of your invoice numbers to be sequential though, you can use the Sequential Order Numbers Pro plugin found here:

    Actually, that wouldn’t solve my problem; most invoice plugins already have this feature (generate a sequential invoice number for each order). The problem is;

    How to deal with test orders?

    After you place a test order and delete it you would need to reset the “starting number” in the Sequential Order Number plugin. That way the next order would pick up where you left off.

    If you are worried about your order number though, I would recommend not doing testing on your live site. Instead using a staging site for that.

    If you don’t already have a staging site set up, check with your hosting company as many offer this as part of their packages. Otherwise, you can use a free plugin such as WP Staging (https://en-ca.ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/wp-staging/) to set one up.

    We recommend everyone has a staging site anyways, as all updates and changes can be done safely there instead of your live site.
