iphone update
-
Today I sent a test email to people with iphones with Ios 15 and all images are not showing. These are the featured images to posts that are included in the newsletter email. I’m seeing the images on an android phone. Do the security changes for iphone apply to all remote images?

We have learned that when using an iPhone or iPad to view images, etc., the Experimental Features of iOS Safari — or if using an Ad Blocker app — may cause that to happen. Yes, even with emails.
To access your iOS Safari’s Experimental Features, go to:
Settings > Safari > Advanced > Experimental FeaturesTry disabling/enabling the Experimental Features of iOS Safari — one by one — to see if that helps. A painful task, but necessary.
Hope this helps a bit.
Cheers!
Hi there @tedandtom 👋🏽!

I have an android phone, so hard to test, but it really doesn’t help the bigger issue which is that MailPoet newsletters sent to people with the new iphone update will no longer include any images! I can’t ask hundreds of people to change their security settings. We can explain why they don’t see images and perhaps how to change their settings, but we can’t do it for them. My question was if this is really true that the new iphone update will block all remote images and it seems to be true.
Hi @tedandtom 👋🏽
Sorry for my incomplete answer before. I just wanted to confirm if the approach above worked for you on your device.
I’ll check the state of this issue with our developers and will get back to you as soon as possible with an update.
Cheers
Hi @tedandtom,
We use Mailpoet and issue newsletters with images. So far, our customers have not reported any issues related to viewing our newsletter images with their iPhones (updated to iOS 15.0.1, Apple’s latest iOS release as of today).
In any case, the following should solve the issue:
(1) First Option:
Ask your customers to turn off Privacy Protection (a new feature released with iOS 15).
If that fixes the issue, then either your email client, your host, or MailPoet are injecting invisible pixels (data trackers) into your newsletter content or images. MailPoet can confirm the latter.

(may not solve your main issue, but will solve other issues related to images not loading in Safari)
Toggle the following Safari Experimental Features to ON (all others OFF):
* Aspect Ratio of < img >
* CSS Aspect Ratio
* CSS Color 4 Color Types
* GPU Process: Canvas Rendering
* GPU Process: Media
* GPU Process: Video Capture
* ImageBitmap
* Intersection Observer
* Media Session API
* NSURL Session WebSocket
* Private Click Measurement Fr
* VP9 decoder
* Web Share API Level 2
* WebGL 2.0
* WebGL via Metal
* WebM MSE parser
* WebM Web Audio
* WebRTC Platform Codecs
* WebRTC Platform TCP Sockets
* WebRTC Platform UDP Sockets
* WebRTC VP9 profile 0 codecHope this helps a bit.
Best wishes!
