    Hello,

I have been using the music store plugin on my site for some time : http://brianmartin.com.au/
The problem I have is for iPhone users – it seems that, though they can click the link they are sent, there is no option for them to save the .mp3 file onto their device (unless they have a computer that runs iTunes and they sync it that way). I’m sure other music sites have this issue so I wondered what solution is being used?

It would actually be an acceptable solution for me if Music Store would email the mp3(s), rather than just download link. Is it possible to configure music store to email the actual music file to the user?

Thank you in advance for any and all help,
    Regards,

    – Kris (on behalf of Brian Martin)

    Hi @pleasehelpmewiththismusicstore,

The issue you describe is a restriction in Safari mobile. Apple does not allow to download any file from the mobile version of its browser, but the solution that you recommend is not the most appropriated for different reasons:

    – The music files can be too heavy to be attached in an email, the premium version of the plugin allows to purchase multiple song files at the same time (Enabling the shopping cart, or purchasing a collection).

    – There are more probabilities that the emails be classified as spam.

From the Apple forums there are different recommended solutions: Share the file to a third party application or service from the browser, like DropBox, EDownloader, etc. and use this app to get the file in iPhones and iPads

    Best regards.

    Hi @codepeople,

    Thank you for your reply.
I feared that may be the case.
And I appreciate your feedback on my originally intended solution; what you say makes sense and I will take your advice and not attempt that approach.

The DropBox share seems like the way to go.
Could you provide any specific links or information about implementing that solution using the music store plugin?

    Thank you again,

    Kris.

    Hi,

The use of DropBox is not configured or determined by the plugin. The users with Apple devices (like iPhone, or iPad) should configure their own devices for sharing the download link (the link in the download page) with DropBox, or any other cloud service, and then access to it to download the files. My recommendation is to include the instructions directly in the download page.

    Best regards.
