Is there a beginners guide?

Hello,
Quite new to WP and intermediate at websites alltogheter I fell for what seemed to be a really nice function for the site I am building.
I just want a couple of documents/files to be available for downloading (all free efter regular recaptcha) on a page.
I´ve added the files in the download repository – but… how do I add the download links on a page??? No new icons are shown in the TinyMCE like “insert download file”…
How do I do this?
