This plugin is more for syncing the store to your WordPress install so you can display them and provide links to the store itself. You won’t be able to make purchases for the products from within the WordPress site, users would still need to go through Etsy for that part.
Hope that clears up questions, but let me know if you have more.
No, that’s pretty much what I’m looking for, I WANT the user to complete the transaction on Etsy. So the user doesn’t actually get pushed over to Etsy until they click the Checkout link? Or is it sooner?
Is there a demo site somewhere or anyone have a sample of a site they’re using this plugin on? Would be easier to figure this all out.
Thanks for the reply.
There won’t be any sort of checkout link within WordPress. Every detail about the e-commerce/purchase aspect of the product is handled by Etsy.
What the importer here does is import content details like the product name, some images, shop product url(so they can get to Etsy to make the purchase), price, production year, and other various meta data, and put it all into a post from a custom post type. All information only.
But the product page is hosted on the WP site right? That appears to be the case. Really wish I could see a demo.
No, the product page isn’t hosted by WP, a copy of some of the content from the product page is created and imported. You will still have the product page on your Etsy account too. None of this is a replacement for your Etsy account, it’s more a clone of information that you can display from your self-hosted site before sending to the shop.
That’s what I meant to say – a copy of the product page is hosted on WP, based on data from the Etsy product page. I think this is what I’m looking for. Thanks for the replies Michael. Much appreciated.
Awesome. Let us know if you need any help with anything else.
