    Good Day,

Is your plugin compatible with Cloudflare Free with APO? As you know, Cloudflare APO caches everyting, including images. Further, with APO activated, we are able to create the API Tokens your plugin requires as described here.

If your plugin is not compatible with Cloudflare Free with APO, can you kindly update your documentation to reflect this? Currently, it only mentions Cloudflare Free.

Note: Our goal is to serve and cache images in AVIF format using your plugin and Cloudflare Free with APO.

    Thank you!

    Hi @generosus,

    Thank you for your message.

In my opinion, it doesn’t make sense. Cloudflare APO allows you to optimize images, so using the WordPress image optimization plugin and Cloudflare APO at the same time will cause both tools to interfere with each other.

    Best,

    Hi @mateuszgbiorczyk,

APO does not optimize images (i.e., it does not compress nor convert them). It simply caches and delivers existing images faster.

Can you kindly revisit this topic and determine if your plugin will work with Cloudflare FREE with APO?

Could a new, separate Worker developed for your plugin — and linked to Cloudflare Free with APO — allow us to use your plugin so we can convert images to the AVIF format and have them cached/delivered by Cloudflare Free with APO?

    Thank you!

@generosus Sorry, I confused Cloudflare APO with Cloudflare Polish. You’re right. As it is written in the guide, in the case of Cloudflare in the free version, images will not be cached by Cloudflare. This is because in the Cloudflare free plans does not support the Accept header.

    Hey @mateuszgbiorczyk,

    No worries.

Have you explored using Cloudflare’s Free Workers plan paired with Cloudflare’s Free CDN plan and your resources in order to serve AVIF and WebP images?

It appears someone else made it happen. Click the links provided below for details.

Any chance you can do the same thing? (or similar). It would open a whole new revenue stream for you and help us at the same time.

    Thank you 🙂

@generosus Thank you for your suggestion. I’ll look into it, but at the moment I can’t promise anything.

    Hey @mateuszgbiorczyk,

That would be great. If we can help you in any way, say, with testing, code development, etc., please let us know. Looking forward to it.

    Thank you 🙂

    Hey @mateuszgbiorczyk,

Any updates? Providing a Cloudflare Worker that is compatible with your plugin (WebP and AVIF image formats) and Clouflare Free (as noted in the above links) would be nice.

    Thank you 🙂

    Hi @generosus,

I don’t have any updates for you at the moment. We also have no plans to introduce such functionality in the near future – according to our analysis, the interest of plugin users for such a solution is too low.

    Hey @mateuszgbiorczyk,

Thank you. Oh well, missed opportunity.

    Cheers 🙂
