    Hello Support Team,

I recently updated the WP Give plugin, and since then I’ve been facing a major issue. All my donation forms have disappeared from the admin panel.

After the update, I noticed that campaigns were added as a new section. However, when I open the campaigns, there are no forms linked or visible inside them. It seems like the update has broken the connection between forms and campaigns, or possibly removed the forms entirely.

Please help me recover my forms and ensure that campaigns display the correct data. This issue is affecting my workflow and donation setup.

    Thank you,
    Akshay Tak

    Hi @akshaytak ,

Glad you reached out! Happy to help.

This is most likely caused by an unfinished update to GiveWP. I’ve seen the exact scenario that you mentioned when the database migration Migrate Forms to Campaigns either failed or hasn’t run yet.

To continue receiving donations on your live site, I would recommend to restore to a backup for now before you updated GiveWP.

Then I would recommend creating a staging site to follow the troubleshooting steps that I will be sharing below. After you’ve been able to successfully perform the troubleshooting on the staging site, then you can run it on your live site.

Solution — Running the Database Updates Manually

For context, GiveWP is a complex plugin that extensively interfaces with your site’s database. From time to time, modifications to the database structure itself need to happen, whether to increase performance or to resolve issues. When that is the case, you will see a prompt on every admin (backend) page of your site.

These updates to database structure have been tested on a wide variety of server setups and on extremely large datasets. But as is the case often in software development, unforeseen edge cases can slip through. The one variable the GiveWP team can’t control is the hosting environment your site has, and in a handful of cases, some server, and database configurations have proven impossible to perform the updates.

We have built-in a way to manually re-run the database update/migration process.

Before taking any steps for troubleshooting or updating, I highly recommend taking a good backup of the site you can confidently restore from. Having a backup of your site is essential to a solid workflow, and will allow you to restore to a previous version of the site if you run into any issues. You can read more about our top recommendations for taking a backup here: https://givewp.com/backup-for-faster-troubleshooting/.

To accomplish this, go through the following steps with GiveWP on your website:

    1. First, back up your site and be sure you are comfortable recovering from that backup just in case.
    2. Enable Advanced Database Updates in GiveWP → Settings → Advanced.
    3. Next, you can run the update in GiveWP → Tools → Data, and based on the Run Order columns, re-run any pending/failed database migrations.
    4. Should you run into any errors, they will appear in GiveWP → Tools → Logs. Copy and paste the error log in here so that we can find a way to resolve them.
    5. Lastly, go back to GiveWP → Settings → Advanced and disable Advanced Database Updates.

You can also read this in here — https://givewp.com/documentation/core/frequent-troubleshooting-issues/handling-database-update-issues/.

Please let me know once you implemented and tested the above and see if the issue persists.

Meanwhile, I’m here for further questions or additional assistance.

    Have a lovely day!

    Hi @akshaytak ,

It’s been a while since we’ve heard back, and I know troubleshooting needs a little extra time. I’m marking this as resolved for now, but if you still have questions, you can send them along right here, and I’ll be happy to hop back in.

    Have a great day!
