Hi,
The backups are served directly by the web server, not by the plugin.
There could not be any compatibility issues since the plugin is not involved in delivering the file to you.
Try talking to someone else on their support team and request to review the error logs from the webserver. Check them around the time when you attempted to download the file.
I was thinking the same myself. There wasn’t an issue downloading via the file manager though, which was strange. If I revert back to the new Ultrafast PHP the issue shows its head again. There were no errors that I could see in the general error log relating to this. Probably an issue at Sitegrounds end.

Yes, you are changing the PHP version but it likely also changes the webserver and its configuration. Also, there is no such thing as UltraFast PHP. I will speculate that it is not PHP that is being changed when you use this mode.

After reading their blog post, I found this that confirms my speculation above https://www.siteground.com/blog/ultrafast-php-for-faster-sites/#comment-9580:
There are a number of ways to run PHP – mod php, php-fpm, etc. This is our custom implementation which performs best on our servers. In terms of PHP code compatibility there are no differences.
