I am receiving an error message when I attempt to embed a YouTube playlist:

“Sorry, that does not seem to be a link to an existing playlist. Please confirm that the link works in your browser, and that the owner of the playlist allowed embed sharing permissions (otherwise, contact the owner of the video to allow embedding). Then copy that full link in your address bar to paste here.”

I am able to embed YouTube channels with no problems, but I get this error message every time I try to embed a playlist. I even tried to embed the example playlist and received the same message.

    Hi,

What did you insert in the textfield of the wizard for the desired playlist?

This is the playlist I am trying to embed:

I entered the entire URL in the text field.

It’s likely an issue with how you created your YouTube API key — assuming you created one. You should delete the current API key and Google console project and start from scratch.

See the steps here for that: https://www.embedplus.com/how-to-create-a-youtube-api-key.aspx

    Hi,

I created a new API key but it did not help.

This would require us to investigate within your site.

I have the same issue I can put a single video up but get the same error message when trying to add a channel, “Sorry, that does not seem to be a link to an existing playlist. Please confirm that the link works in your browser, and that the owner of the playlist allowed embed sharing permissions (otherwise, contact the owner of the video to allow embedding). Then copy that full link in your address bar to paste here.”
API key fine and if it wasn’t then single videos would not show. Working fine a few weeks ago and nothing apart from normal updates on my site. The same happens with playlists
I am using theme Express,Version: 0.4.0 latest version of wordpress but it wouldn’t work on the last version neither

Just one thing I did notice ages ago if this helps anyone, this plugin does not work along side Smush It the image compression plugin, not that I am worried but just for reference more than anything I am using theme Express,Version: 0.4.0

    Hi @steveclews6832 ,

Regarding your issue about the channel, it is likely that your YouTube API key isn’t configured right. Did you add any restrictions to your key? If so, what kind? For example, was it HTTP referrers? If so, what were the entries (domains) that you put in?

You can find that info, by starting here: https://console.developers.google.com/apis/credentials

Also, can you elaborate on your Smush It compatibility conclusion? How did you determine that and what effects do you see?

I too am receiving this error. It happens with even the example videos given in “Embed a channel.”

I’ll try re-creating the API but I’m not sure where I would have gone wrong. I also removed all API restrictions for testing purposes.

Ok I got Embedplus working by taking all restrictions off; but as soon as I put a domain wildcard restriction on or just a http referrer restriction on then it fails to get any videos with the error as stated, I have always used my api key with domain restriction before and never had any issues so I know its not that configured wrongly but then Embedplus stopped working, as mentioned I am now using it ok but any restriction on the api will cause an error, maybe something YouTube have done their side in terms of the logic behind a restriction. Yes it was for http referrers as well https.
When using Smush I have Learnpress installed and to embed a video on a Learnpress lesson page failed, so I did deactivated my plugins one at a time when I deactivated Smush then a video would embed on the lesson page fine. I even tried a staging site with a different theme and Smush and Embedplus along with Learnpress and the same error. Just deactivating Smush resolved what ever the conflict was between Embedplus, learnpress and smush.
