From mobile when i click on any instagram pics in the footer it links to a fake account.

Same Problem here. When I click on the single pictures from the mobile Version it always links to an account “p” on instagram.
From the normal browser it links to an instagrampage like instgram.com/p/ABc56ed. I think this ist the “p” at the single pics.
How can we fix it?My site: http://www.serendipity-blog.de
The error is caused by the missing slash at the end of the link that is used by the widget. The link https://instagram.com/p/BDeINkYkTfF/ is working on my desktop and my iPhone while https://instagram.com/p/BDeINkYkTfF is only working on my desktop. On my iPhone it just opens an account named “P” in the instagram app.
Sounds like that is more likely to be a bug with the phone than the plugin. What phones and apps are you all using?
I’m having the same problem (not only in the Instagram Footer but also from the Instagram social media icon). The link isn’t redirecting to the correct page. It occurs on any other (Apple) device as well. When I delete the Instagram app to open it in the browser, it works fine. But it should redirect to the app just as well.
I suspect two things can go wrong:
1. The WP Instagram Widget and Instagram social media icon give the wrong redirection to the Instagram app somehow, even though redirection to browser works.
2. The mobile Instagram app is defective and does not open the link as it should.
Or something in between. My iOS Instagram app does open links from other websites properly, so I do suspect issue 1 is the case. What I also noticed is that the link opened by the iOS Instagram is the first part of the total link. So part of the link is not copied to the app.
1. Link iOS Instagram app should open: http://instagram.com/p/BD-VUUMRqYw
2. Link iOS Instagram actually opens: http://instagram.com/p/ (which is someone’s profile)
Hope this helps. And I hope it can be fixed.

I’ve tested this on the following devices: iPhone 5s (iOS 9.3.1), iPad Air 2 (iOS 9.3.1) and iPad Mini 2 (iOS 9.3.1). I was able to reproduce the error on every one using the included Safari browser and the up-to-date iOS version of Instagram (7.19.1). There is no way to change this behavior, because the Instagram app opens up automatically if it’s installed and you tap on an Instagram link in Safari.
As I already mentioned above the URL with the slash at the end works as expected on all devices including Apple iPhones & iPads: https://instagram.com/p/BDeINkYkTfF/
When you tap on the URL without the slash at the end https://instagram.com/p/BDeINkYkTfF the Instagram app seems to cut the URL on the last slash and just opens up https://instagram.com/p/
By the way if you use the “copy share URL” function inside the Instagram app to share a photo you get the “complete” URL with the slash at the end.
I’ve found partly a solution to the problem. For the problem with the Instagram Social Media Icon, when adding a slash after the Instagram username in your WP settings, you get redirected to the right Instagram account (it works now on my website: http://anniewhereigo.com/ when opening from my iPhone). However, this doesn’t work for the sidebar, nor for the Instagram Footer. Clicking on a photo still results in opening up https://instagram.com/p/
Plugin updated to 1.9.6. This ensures all URLs generated are trailing slashed.
Hello Scott,
after the 1.9.6 update the link text is broken: the target instagram url ends with a double slash // and therefore it couldn’t be opened.
You can see an example in the footer of this site: http://www.entropiaristorante.itRegards!
Try: 1.9.7 π

Hello again Scott,
issue resolved with update to 1.9.7. Thanks a lot π
