Since upgrading to 2.0 I am getting a popup on almost every page that uses a table (we have 731 tables on the website). Here is the popup, can anyone help with a solution?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

It may be related only to tables where the “Table features or site visitors” box is checked. I am currently going thru and unchecking that on each of the 700+ tables and that seems to be removing the popup.

    Hi @coppercreek,

thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

It’s indeed related to that checkbox. Essentially, this error message is now uncovering incompatible uses of these features.

For example, these “Table Features for Site Visitors” can not be used with tables that have merged/combined cells (via the #colspan# or #rowspan# keyword in table cells), or in tables that have broken HTML code in them, or with tables that only have one row total (this can happen when Row Filtering is used, for example).

For the last issue (the table having just one row), I have already found a solution that will ship with an updated version shortly (maybe already tomorrow).

Now, on the page from your link, I do indeed see a table that uses #colspan#. Was the checkbox activated for this table earlier (I don’t see the error anymore right now, so I assume that you already turned the checkbox off for this table with the ID “270win_129lrx”?
Unchecking it will indeed remove the error, but for this table you could also just remove the #colspan#, if you wanted to use any of the “Table Features for Site Visitors”, like sorting, search, or pagination, for this table.

    Regards,
    Tobias

Thank you for the quick reply Tobias, I guess the bright side is its an easy fix though time consuming. Have a Merry Christmas.

    Hi,

yes, it will be an easy fix, but make sure to make the right choice: If you actually want to use these features, check if removing #colspan# makes more sense (in header rows it often does), or whether unchecking the checkbox is more reasonable (so that you can keep the features activated), or even whether it makes sense to do both!

Merry Christmas and all the best for the new year to you as well!

    Best wishes,
    Tobias

    Hi @coppercreek ,

in case you haven’t seen it yet: TablePress 2.0.1 is available and now does not show the error anymore. (The proper solution would still be to make those changes.)

    Best wishes,
    Tobias

    Hi,

no problem! 🙂 And you did the right thing! Employing the proper fix instead of just “hiding” something is always better!

Best wishes and all the best for 2023 to you as well,
    Tobias

P.S.: In case you haven’t, please rate TablePress here in the plugin directory. Thanks!
