    Hi there,

I’ve seen several YouTube videos highly recommending the ASE Plugin as a great all-in-one solution. However, after activating it, I get the following error and can’t access my site:

“This page isn’t working – http://www.ankervanhoop.com redirected you too many times. Try deleting your cookies. ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS”

I’ve tried disabling all other plugins and only activating ASE, but the issue persists. I also switched my theme to the default Twenty Twenty-One, but the problem still occurs. I’m unable to access or use my site while ASE is active.

I really want to use ASE because of all the great feedback, but this issue is making it impossible. I’d really appreciate any help you can offer to resolve it.

    Thanks so much!

@lpienewald thank you for reporting this. Do you remember which modules in ASE that you turned ON / enabled when this happened? There are several modules that has some sort of redirection feature in it. e.g. Change Login URL, Redirect After Login, Redirect 404 to Homepage.

Do you have any other plugin or code snippet that implements some sort of redirection?

Please note that of the 200.000 sites using ASE at the moment, you’re currently the only one reporting this issue, so, could be something specific to your site, hosting or set up.

Thanks for getting back to me.

I don’t remember exactly which setting caused the issue, but I did toggle on a lot – almost all of them like the YouTube video I followed: https://youtu.be/ZEiIKfz2p2Q?si=U8IG_R6oLWKg4LmW … I skipped only the ones I thought might conflict with other plugins.

I vaguely remember enabling something related to redirecting an error page to another error page code. Maybe that’s the problem?

    Important to note:

    • After activating the plugin (but before enabling most settings), I could still access my WordPress dashboard/site.
    • The issue only started after I toggled on many of the settings.
    • I’ve tested with ASE deactivated and all other plugins active, and the site/dashboard works fine. I can still access it.
    • But as soon as I activate ASE, I get locked out again with the redirect error as mentioned in my first message.

    Regarding your question:
Do you have any other plugin or code snippet that implements redirection?
No, not that I’m aware of.

I was hoping to go back into ASE settings and disable anything that might be causing this, but I can’t even click on the configure settings button now because I get thrown out of my site as soon as ASE is activated.

Hope this info helps. I appreciate you assisting me.

@lpienewald please reset ASE settings by following these steps: https://www.wpase.com/documentation/reset-ase/

Then: reactivate ASE, enable modules that has a redirection feature one by one and check if the homepage is still accessible. At the point you notice that the redirect loop occurs, please go to https://wheregoes.com/ and check the redirect chain that is occurring, perhaps there is some clue there. Then, share in your next reply what the offending ASE module is that is related to the redirect loop.

Please also go to your “Tools >> Site Health >> Info” admin page and copy the WP environment info in your next reply. Maybe there is a clue in there too.

Bowo, I just wanted to say thank you very much. I was able to reset ASE with the link details you sent. After changing the settings everything was and is still working well.
