The plugin picks the images from the featured images. It seems like your theme is not showing them. Did you add them? If so, please test with the default WP theme.

I am using genesis child theme on my site and i don’t add featured images to my posts. i just simply add the images into post. My categories showing those images in place of featured images.
is there any way to fix this without updating featured images in all the posts??

It seems like you already have a function to get the image from the post. I am not sure if it’s from the content or some custom field. But you can use the same method to get the image and add it in the loop of posts.
You might want to contact your theme developer if you are unsure on how to achieve it.
