Issue with indexing new posts

    For some reason, the automatic indexing of new pages / posts isn’t working on a client website and the search index was missing around 180 URLs. Using the “Index unindexed posts” option did the trick, but we’d like to avoid manual intervention moving forward. How might we go about debugging / resolving this issue so that new items get indexed?

    If a new post is added to the site now, is it indexed automatically or not? Was this perhaps an old issue you noticed now, or is this something ongoing?

    180 missing pages – how much is that? Do you have hundreds or thousands or tens of thousands of posts?

    How are the posts added to your site? Are they created manually or imported somewhere? Imported posts are not always automatically indexed.

    Thank you for the quick followup!

    I just checked a recent post from yesterday and it appears in results as expected. So perhaps updating the settings / forcing a re-index fixed the issue. It looks like indexing is working properly.
