Issue with lists
-
I’m working on a site for a client that has accumulated about 300 lists over the years and when creating a form we have 5 lists that we want to make available to the user but one of them isn’t showing up in Dashboard > Contact Forms > Lists even after completing a list sync. I noticed that there are 100 lists here but 300 + that should be listed.
My question: is there a limit to the number of lists that can sync through the plugin?

Hi @sdatic
Looking at the code, it does look like there is a hard limit on that, which I find a little odd because 1) People will very legitimately have more than that sometimes, 2) there’s no way to override, and 3) There’s no way to somehow choose which get listed, it’s just ending up being the first 100 that get found.
Let me have some time to see if I can dig up why the limit was put in place, and I’ll reach back out soon.
Good day,
I have dug into some historical details around this spot, but sadly am not finding any great explanations as to why these limitations were originally put in place.
That said, I did open up some enhancement issues to explore how we can better handle this, since I agree it’s very easy for someone who’s installing the plugin here to already have well over 100 lists, and this hard limit works against those users.
It looks like we are now seeing an error on the dashboard which might be related. It notes to send you a message here but is there anyway to send you the url directly. Thanks
If it’s an admin notice that goes something like “Constant Contact Forms has experienced issues that may need addressed…” then a direct URL won’t do us too much good as that’d require logging in too.
There should be some links and instructions about enabling a debugging setting to help reveal a new admin page that’ have some logs.
I can’t share the bulk of the logs here as they include email signup data. I guess the question I have is still about the 100 list limit. I believe our issues derive from not importing a list that we want to use in a signup form. Can I get an idea as to if or when the list limit will be removed?
I don’t think the logs will be of value in this case since the plugin is technically working just not importing all lists.
I can share this line from the logs which is the only error I see:
[2020-12-18 07:24:19] API.INFO: ConstantContact_API::add_contact:527 – http.status.bad_request – Bad request. [] []Agreed on not sharing any more of the list than needbe, but we can also always share an email address that that can be sent to if we reach that point. We don’t need to right now.
I can’t promise any timeframe for when any changes for the list volume is going to be amended and released. There’s bound to be many factors we need to take into consideration for it, to hopefully make sure things go smoothly regardless of the list totals.
Regarding that last part, looks like at least 1 request for a new contact got rejected. For example it may have been a contact detail that has been flagged as potential spam on our end, or some other various possible reasons. We can test submit an address we know not to be spam if you desire, and see if that makes it all the way through.
Thank you for the update. Can you share an email address that can be routed to you as I can’t find a way to reply in private?
Again, thank you!
