    Hi Héctor,

I really love the plugin and it has been working great up until now! However, I was scrolling through my site today and I noticed that the post titles don’t seem to fit inside the thumbnails anymore. This has happened on the homepage under the ‘trending now’ section and on the individual blog posts too.

I’ve checked on Chrome and Safari and the issue seems to appear on both browsers.

Here’s the debug information in case that’s of any help:

    Hi @ellen3,

It seems that your website is using a custom HTML structure for your Trending Now list (coded by your developer I guess?) Can’t say what’s wrong with it (I mean, yes, I can tell that titles are off haha) because I don’t know what’s supposed to look like 😛

    Let’s try this:

    1. Go to Appearance > Widgets
    2. Find the sidebar where your Trending Posts list is.
    3. Click on the WordPress Popular Posts widget to access its settings.
    4. Scroll down until you see the HTML Markup settings section and take a screenshot of that.
    5. Upload the screenshot somewhere and share the URL to the screenshot here so I can have a look.

    Hi,

This is all I can see in regards to HTML Markup Settings: https://www.flickr.com/photos/193449564@N08/51287880001/in/dateposted-public/

I’ve also included a screenshot of what the widget is meant to look like: https://www.flickr.com/photos/193449564@N08/51288894145/in/dateposted-public/

    Thanks again for the help!

I guess that the HTML customization is being done via PHP then and not with the built-in HTML Markup Settings included with the widget.

Is there any way I can see what the original HTML looked like? (You got that screenshot from somewhere, right? :P)

I took the screenshot from the demo page on the 17th Avenue website. Here’s a link to it: https://demo.17thavenuedesigns.net/harper/ 😁

For some reason the HTML markup used to build your popular posts list is completely different from the one from the demo site which is odd.

    Anyways, let’s try this now:

    1. Go to Appearance > Widgets again and click on your WordPress Popular Posts widget to access its settings just as before.

    2. Scroll down to the HTML Markup settings section, tick the “Use custom HTML Markup” checkbox, then click on Save to apply changes.

    3. Set “Before / after title” to <h4 class="widget-title widgettitle"> and </h4>, respectively.

    4. Set “Before / after Popular Posts” to <ul class="wpp-list wpp-list-with-thumbnails"> and </ul>, respectively.

    5. Set “Post HTML Markup” to <li>{thumb} {title}</li>.

You should have something like this now:

(Click on the image to view it full size if needed).

    6. Finally, click on Save to apply changes.

Give that a shot and report back your results.

    Hi Héctor,

I’ve entered that information (https://www.flickr.com/photos/193449564@N08/51287191787/in/dateposted-public/) but it doesn’t seem to have made a difference.

Maybe we’re not changing the right widget then. Do you see any other WPP widgets on your sidebar(s)?

I’ve got two: one in the footer (trending now) and then one in the primary sidebar. I’ve changed the HTML markup settings on both 😁

I’m quite puzzled to be frank.

I guess you could try following the Troubleshooting instructions (read from the second paragraph and on) and see where that leads us to.
