    Dear sir/madam,

We are experiencing an issue that sometimes the VAT is missing in our payment and order processing. Currently, we are unsure if this problem stems from WooCommerce, the Mollie integration or a possible conflict with other plugins.

    Here is the observed behavior:

    1. A customer starts an iDEAL payment but cancels it to add more products to their cart.
    2. The initial payment remains marked as “cancelled,” and the system logs the following:
      • iDEAL payment initiated (tr_UR56acy2LS).
      • Mollie – iDEAL payment (tr_UR56acy2LS) cancelled.
      • Unpaid order cancelled – time limit reached. Order status changed from Waiting for payment to Cancelled.
    3. The customer then places a new order and successfully completes payment without VAT, which is logged as:
      • iDEAL payment initiated (tr_cfzFZEFSKU).
      • Order status changed from Waiting for payment to Processing.
      • Order completed using Mollie – iDEAL payment (tr_cfzFZEFSKU).

The issue seems to arise most of the time when an order is cancelled. But we can’t seem to reproduce the same result.

Here are some printscreens of a client that had this order missing VAT issue:

Have you encountered similar issues with other merchants? If so, could you provide insight into whether this is a known problem with WooCommerce, the Mollie plugin or possibly a conflict with other plugins? Additionally, do you have any recommendations or solutions to prevent such issues from occurring in the future?

We would greatly appreciate your help. Please let us know if you need further details or access to logs.

    Looking forward to your response.

    Best regards,
    Dennis

    Hi @dennis078

    Thank you for reaching out.

Here’s what we’ve identified and some steps we can take to troubleshoot:

    1. Log Files and System Report:
To better understand what’s happening, it would be very helpful if you could share your WooCommerce system report and the Mollie plugin logs, especially from the affected transactions on December 7th. These logs could provide insights into what occurred during the order creation process.
    2. iDEAL Payment Method Description:
We noticed that your iDEAL payment method still displays the message “Selecteer hieronder je bank.” Since the iDEAL gateway no longer includes a bank selector dropdown, you can safely remove this text to avoid any confusion.

Please let us know if you can provide the requested logs and system report.

Please provide those logs and system report on our PrivateBin.

We’ll be happy to assist further once we have more details.

    Regards,
    Femi

    Hi Femi,

Thank you for your response, and apologies for my slightly delayed reply.

    1. Log Files and System Report:
      WooCommerce system report = https://privatebin.syde.com/?b44c46d4f1a6fa38#Feibe39d9HLVZEN91qDFT3TGHwUR8zsusSHk1ka6SumU

      Mollie plugin logs = https://privatebin.syde.com/?e8edefbd5446deb7#Er5uqcgbUbDE52pHizGDsSMGkzPJgkCDP3GavY9LMV1z

On that day, the Mollie plugin logged 3 files:
      wc_logger-2024-12-07
      mollie-payments-for-woocommerce
      fatal-errors-2024-12-07
    2. iDEAL Payment Method Description:
I appreciate your advice and removed the description!

I also noticed something interesting. The “Expiration period” (the number of MINUTES after which the order expires and is canceled in Mollie and WooCommerce) was set to 0. When I tried to save the deleted description, I received a notification that the “Expiration period” must be set to at least 10 minutes. Could this have been a factor in causing the issue?

I hope this provides all the information you need! If there’s anything else you’d like me to check, feel free to let me know.

Thank you for the support so far!

    Kind regards,

    Dennis

    Hello

    Apologies for the late reply.

We looked into this and it does not seem like this issue is caused by Mollie. Note that tax calculation is processed by WooCommerce and the Mollie plugin simply sends the total order created by WooCommerce including the tax for paymen t processing.

    Suggestions:

    • Set up a staging site to try reproducing the issue with a different payment method.
    • Reach out to WooCommerce support, with the information we have given you regarding how Mollie processes order payments.

Regarding this, yes this seems to be a bug and will be fixed soon, but this should not affect tax calculations in anyway, so you can simply ignore this.

    Happy Holidays.

    Regards,
    Femi.
