Issues after server move

I have been attempting to move several sites to a new server. All sites have a pretty full gamut of iThemes security settings including renaming the wp-content folder. I have used the Duplicator plugin to move the sites and everything works except that on the new server the instal does not recognize the themes or plugins folders. Strangely uploads such as images which are also in the renamed wp-content folder are all fine.

Additionally of i attempt to upload a theme i get this error message
“Unable to create directory uploads/2017/01. Is its parent directory writable by the server?”
permissions are 755

Any pointers or better a solution will be most welcome!
