Issues Syncing

I made a service account that has read on group/user data in Active Directory. This account successfully links the installation of the plugin. Base DN i have is just dc=batmat,dc=org and all is well. I set the sync parameters to a specific Security group and it Syncs fine. The appropriate users get added into the wordpress users as expected and the data appears correct. When i do the test auth, it works and the user passes the check. I Synced a test group with 5 users to give them the “Administrator” role and in the users page, they appear as expected, with the admin role.

However, when I go to the wp-admin page to login and use the synced users email or username, the authentication fails saying incorrect password. Isnt the authentication supposed to pass through and authenticate on the AD server via ldap? Looking for suggestions on why this last piece would not be working. Thanks!
