I’m trying to build an online digital store. So far so good, but I need audio so users can listen to what they are going to buy. The problem is when I add audio to the media library, the audio doesn’t playback at all apart from a single sound that worked once and won’t work again. Instead, WordPress adds an extra string of characters to the file name and it doesn’t work. The downloads don’t work either. I’ve tried .wav and .mp3 but nothing changed. Does anyone know what this could be or a better solution?

Please provide a link to a page on your site where we can see this. Thanks. Note: Your link will be public and we will not later remove it.

Ultimately, I’ll probably say something like:

This may be a plugin or theme conflict. Please attempt to disable all plugins, and use one of the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of your troubles.

Solved! It turns out that directly adding the audio to the media library solves it, I was trying to upload media when making a new product which seems to be the reason for breakage. Not that it should break it, I may investigate further to see if a plugin is the cause of that issue.
