There is no code in the plugin to do that.
Thank you for the quick reply!
We are still experiencing this issue (has happened 3 times now) and have also now experienced this on another, much older site that uses this plug-in (albeit very, very rarely – there’s only one redirect, and the URL was last accessed on Oct 29 of this year).
Ok. The plugin isn’t changing your permalinks.
Could it be some combination of the plug-in with something else? The permalinks are not manually being changed.
The plugin doesn’t change permalinks and has no code to do that.
Why do you think Redirection is involved here? There doesn’t appear to be a link in your description.
There have been no other reports of this problem elsewhere. The most likely explanation is that it is caused by something else, possibly involving a cache.
Process of elimination. We have hundreds of sites, and this has only happened on two sites, the common denominator between the two sites that isn’t on any of our other sites is this plug-in.
I fully get that your plug-in doesn’t change permalinks, I’m curious if something else – another plug-in or server settings – combined with your plug-in, might be messing with permalinks or the htaccess file.
How would caching change permalinks?
To be clear, the actual permalink setting on the back-end of the site is what’s changing, and it is not being changed manually. This isn’t a case where we have an old permalink structure cached in a browser, and it’s displaying that way just to one person.
Things that randomly change are often caused by caches expiring. I am not referring to browser caching.
The plugin is used on millions of sites and is not changing permalinks. The chance of it doing so on only on your sites seems small.
I have seen many instances of people insisting that something is not being manually changed, but then it ends up being manually changed, or triggered by some user action. You could always install some logging plugin and keep a log of changes.
We’ll look into any sort of caching thing – thank you!
I don’t disagree that it’s very unlikely but felt it was worth the ask in case you had any leads.
We do have logging turned on, and the change to plain is not being logged.
