It does almost everything

This plugin was a lifesaver for me. The Genesis Sandbox Featured Content Widget plugin has not been updated in several years and completely broke after the update to WordPress 4.9.

That sent me scrambling for a featured post content widget. This plugin works perfectly and has all the features I need except one: You cannot exclude specific posts from the feed.

And it has a one feature I have not seen in other featured posts widgets: You can add html to the read more text; for example, here’s what I did to get buttons on their own row at the end of the excerpt:

...<br><span style="margin-top: 15px" class="button">Read More</span>

Brilliant! None of the other similar widgets allowed this. Makes for a very nice news feed.

And finally, it respects Sticky Posts.
