Thanks for the notification. What exactly happens when you compress an image in WordPress? Do you see any messages in the list view of the media browser?
The only requirements to run the plugin successfully are a working WordPress installation that has either cURL or fopen support.

Ah, that gives us something to work with!
It seems the version of OpenSSL that cURL is using is too old to verify the SSL certificate we are using.
I would suggest you to update OpenSSL and cURL on your system to the latest version.
