Just finished redesign for a WordPress site. Created a new AWS Lightsail instance when I started this project and got a new IP address. Today I finished the redesign, changed my A record to point to the new IP address and added an SSL certificate. Everything was looking good. I looked at the WordPress admin page and saw a JetPack message about the IP address and domain name not matching and suggesting Safe Mode. I did not want to do that. Not sure what happened, but now cannot access the new site with the url (which was working fine) or the IP address. Is JetPack blocking or preventing this???

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi there,

When you say “access the site”, do you mean loading the site itself in your browser? If so, there is no way that Jetpack can block you from doing that. Jetpack Protect can block someone from logging into WP-Admin from a flagged IP address, but it has no control over access to the front end of the site.

And https://acsls.org/ does not appear to be currently connected to Jetpack at all.

I looked at the WordPress admin page and saw a JetPack message about the IP address and domain name not matching and suggesting Safe Mode.

It sounds like Jetpack thought you’re connecting a staging site. When you do that it switches to safe mode to prevent an identity crisis – where your domain accidentally becomes assigned to the wrong blog ID over on WordPress.com’s end.

Is your redesigned site on a new domain, with the original site connected to Jetpack under a different domain by any chance?

I did deactivate Jetpack for now. Still not sure what happened but wanted to get my WordPress admin as clean as possible. I was moving the domain to a new IP address. That is when I saw the Jetpack error/warning. I also was setting up SSL, which may have been the real culprit. I almost have everything working and the site is in production so not making any system changes right now. Once I am sure it is stable, I can re-activate Jetpack with a bit more confidence.

    Thank you for replying!
