Would you please give us a link to the site with the problem?
Are you sure this is a sudden problem with Jetpack only?
13 hours ago, you wrote the same with regards to Shareaholic: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/facebook-sharing-issue-sharaholic
Yes, It started working after I de-activated all my plug-ins and then I wrote about the recipe embedding and when you told me activate jetpack it went back to crazy.
So I’m assuming something is conflicting.
Is the issue with clicking Facebook share button, or the link after it’s shared on Facebook? I’m not actually seeing a problem with either myself right now.
clicking share button. on my end it shows error 404 and the header image. not the image associated with post.
Oh, I see it in the preview, that’s a weird one. I was assuming the pop-up itself would be a 404 or something.
Would you mind deactivating Jetpack, so I can see what has changed in the page’s source?
I’m still seeing the quoted 404 with Jetpack deactivated: http://d.pr/i/15bkr/358uaLp9
If you use Jetpack’s sharing buttons instead of Shareaholic, do you have the same issue?
You can enable Jetpack’s Sharing module at Jetpack -> Settings, then configure the buttons at Settings -> Sharing.
They aren’t as nice but I guess I can try. Weird that I only have issues with that particular post.
This is related to when and how Facebook’s caches the meta information about a webpage. In this case, someone tried to share this page when it was still not publicly accessibly by Facebook. To fix, run the entire URL through the Facebook URL debugger (“Fetch new scrape information”) – https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/
Complete URL should include the entire URL inc. tracking parameters, for example: http://www.marquettesharie.com/baked-garlic-parmesan-potato-wedges/?utm_campaign=shareaholic&utm_medium=facebook&utm_source=socialnetwork
Hope this helps!
Thanks for adding that! 🙂
Hi James,
I’m afraid I’ve got the same issue as MARQUETTE SHARIE initially had with recipe shortcodes showing in the post rather than functioning.
As with Marquette Sharee, I figured to be a self hosted site (wp.org not wp.com) but I already had Jetpack loaded.
See here:
http://dermutanderer.de/de/knusprige-gans-mac-cheese-mit-dem-aeg-procombi-plus/
In Jetpack shortcode is enabled.
You pointers are much welcome
than you,
Mark
