This is a Genesis theme on a Multisite on WP Engine.

Most users are able to comment on content via Jetpack without issue.
However, intermittently, users (in Author role, often using Chrome) will try to comment on items using Jetpack comments and once submitted, the comments simply disappear and cannot be found anywhere.

Only the user’s logging out and then logging in a few times seems to fix the issue, but needless to say this is frustrating.

Can you point us in the right direction for a fix? Thank you!

I am having a similar problem with a person trying leave a comment. It seems to save but then does not appear. And this person has commented before on my blog.
I have even tried to post her comment myself and it didn’t work either. Any clue what could be happening? Thank you

Do you both use an anti-spam plugin of some sort on your site? If so, could you go to the comments menu in your dashboard and make sure the comments weren’t caught by the site’s spam filter? I would also recommend checking your comment moderation settings under Settings > Discussion to make sure you’re not blacklisting some of those comments by mistake.

If that doesn’t help, could you try to deactivate Jetpack’s Comments feature under Jetpack > Settings > Discussion, and let me know if that solves the issue?

    Hi Jeremy,
    Thank you for your reply.
I use CleanTalk and I checkered whether the comment appeared in Spam, but does not. I do not have any blacklist configured.
So I just tried to deactivate the Jetpack feature and when trying to post the comment a message came up saying that the comment was blocked as a suspected bot.
I just tried to post a comment with my e-mail address. With the feature deactivated I received the same same. Activating the Jetpack feature, the comment has been saved.

    Any ideas?
    Thank you very much

Hi Jeremy, I recently changed the setting on Akismet to save spam in the spam folder rather than silently discard, so perhaps that will allow other attempts to at least show up somewhere. This only happens occasionally and we have good communication with users, so we’ll keep an eye on it and come back if we get additional reports. Thank you!

@thecornerofexcellence It would seem that your email address is being flagged in CleanTalk. I’d recommend checking your CleanTalk settings to solve this issue.

Once that’s fixed, it’s probably best to keep Jetpack’s Comment form deactivated. Since the form is inserted on your site via an iFrame, it makes it impossible for CleanTalk to display notices alongside the form to report issues like the one you’re currently experimenting.

If you’d rather keep using Jetpack’s Comment form, I would recommend switching to the Akismet plugin, as it is compatible with Jetpack Comments.

    Hello @thecornerofexcellence, @jeherve,

CleanTalk is fully compatible with JetPack comments, it shows a reject notice if the comment has been rejected. Please look the example here,
    http://share.pho.to/Agbhj

You can see all banned and approved comments in the AntiSpam log,
    http://cleantalk.org/my/show_requests

Also, I have revised your account and logs and didn’t find any issues with CleanTalk installation on the site. So, probably the notice ‘…was blocked as a suspected bot…’ shows another plugin. I have Googled a bit and found this,

May be you have same issue?

Thank you @jeherve. Will try and deactivate Mojo then as I am not using it yet. Let’s see what I’ll do the day I might want to use it πŸ˜‰
