This error message is not only appearing when I’m in the WordPress Admin area…. it’s also appearing on the live site! Help!
I had the same issue, and here is where I found the solution that worked for me: https://jetpack.com/support/custom-css/
“If a classic theme is installed on your site, the Jetpack Custom CSS feature must be activated to be effective. Look at the Theme enhancements section in Jetpack > Settings > Writing in your site’s dashboard: if the Custom CSS button is toggled off, your site is not using the feature, and the deprecation won’t impact it.”
I went to the Jetpack dashboard, followed “Jetpack > Settings > Writing” as it says, and I toggled off the Custom CSS button. That took away the error message for me!
Hi @jackmckenna ,
On my JetPack dashboard I see: “Jetpack encountered an error and was unable to display the Dashboard. Please try refreshing the page.”
This error message typically occurs when PHP errors are being output on the front end of your site. We have discussed this in our support doc here: https://jetpack.com/support/getting-started-with-jetpack/troubleshoot-jetpack-connection-error-messages/#jetpack-encountered-an-error-and-was-unable-to-display-the-dashboard.
To resolve this issue, you can disable the output of PHP errors on the front end. You can follow this guide to accomplish this: https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-turn-off-php-errors-in-wordpress/.
As for the second error, please follow the helpful suggestions @asianswan shared from here and let us know if you’re still seeing issues.
Thank you!
Hey @jackmckenna,
Do you have updates about that? We usually close inactive threads after one week of no movement, but we want to make sure we’re all set before marking it as solved. Thanks!
I am facing the same error on my website, i tried all the suggested solutions but still am facing the same problem. I can even disconnect my website to jetpack
I have a website that I let expire years ago and I no longer have access to the admin panel nor do I even remember where I hosted them. However, they are still showing in my Jetpack because I didn’t delete the sites before they expired.
I have tried removing the old site from my Jetpack account but get the following error: DELETE SITE ERROR: User cannot delete Jetpack site via api.
The websites that need to be deleted from my Jetpack account that I no longer have access to….

How do I break the Jetpack connection to these old sites that no longer exist and remove them from my Jetpack account?
Hello @janimdarko
That site should no longer be appearing in your Jetpack dashboard.
In the future, could you please start your own thread, as per the Forum Welcome guidelines
