Jetpack reports site down repeatedly

    I am repeatedly getting emails from JetPack that my website appears to be down in reachable or down for 3-5 minutes. Then another saying it’s back online. This happens a lot.

    however when I try to load the website it’s not slow to load and loads fine.

    Error reference: 234058489/intermittent

    I reached out to my web host and they suggested I contact Jetpack and told me that the plug-in might be having issues connecting to xmlrpc.php (I know nothing about this requirement or what this file is). But they confirm that the “file is enabled” so to reach out here.

    has anyone encountered this before?

    I get these emails every day.

    Hi there, @philipgilson,

    It looks like you received an email notification from our Monitor feature. Jetpack Monitor checks your site every five minutes to see if it is accessible. If your site is slow to load, it could trigger a notice that it is down. We also send a follow-up email letting you know how long your site was down or inaccessible.

    The intermittent notification happens when the Jetpack requests timed out, meaning that your site does not respond to these requests after 10 seconds. This case can be confusing because the site may actually be loading, but it’s just slow, and Jetpack thinks that this slowtime is instead a sign that the site if offline.

    Such cases tend to self-resolve, as slow speeds could be temporary that day or intermittent every day. You can contact your hosting provider to make sure nothing is off and confirm that it’s just a temporary event.

    Currently, there’s no way to adjust the time that the Monitor checks your site – it’s either on or off. If the frequency of notices is bothersome, you can always disable that module on the site by following the instructions here:
