I’m also having this problem on one of my sites. Unlike @webcrusader I’m running PHP 5.2.6, so maybe it isn’t version specific.
We fixed the problem in this commit:

It will be included in the next Jetpack release.
I’ve just tried to move these snippets over to my install which is having the same issue and i don’t believe it’s fixed?
I’m not getting the Fatal Error anymore, just a single checkbox input and no text in place of this error?
Did this commit definitely fix the issue?
